Certified Contractor

A Certified Contractor is a snow and ice contracting company that meets the Smart About Salt Council (SASC) criteria. In part, this means successful completion of the "Essentials of Salt Management" course is defined as completion within the past five (5) years.

Please note that a Trained Operator, an individual who has successfully passed the Smart About Salt Council "Essentials of Salt Management" training test, is not considered a Certified Contractor.

Registration to Become Certified - $698.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments Your Register Your Intent to Certify include the "Essentials of Salt Management" online training. You are required to have successfully completed the "essentials of salt management" training in order to qualify for certification. Registration to Become Certified is non-refundable.

Those certified are required to renew annually.

Renew Certified Contractor/Company - $299.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year No automatically recurring payments A company that applies for and meets the requirements for SAS documentation, training and information. Maintenance of training standards and filing of annual renewal documentation is required in order to renew certification.
